Buccaneer Wins Medicare Data Center Contract
WARRENTON, VA - Buccaneer Data Services, LLC (BDS) has been awarded a five year $73.4 million contract (if all options are exercised) by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This competitive win tasks BDS with assuming the operation of the CMS Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC) in York, Pennsylvania.
The CDAC operation is in support of Title XI of the Social Security Act, Part B, as amended by the Quality Improvement Organizations Improvement Act of 1982. That legislation established the CMS Medicare and Medicaid Quality Improvement Program, with the mission of improving quality of care for beneficiaries by ensuring that beneficiary care meets professionally recognized standards of health care.
Specific BDS areas of responsibility include medical data abstraction, validation of hospital self-reported data, medical necessity case review, coding validation, and other projects in support of the CMS Quality Improvement Program.
