Software Company to Launch West Des Moines Division
Des Moines Business Record
A Virginia software development and informatics (SDI) company hopes to open a West Des Moines location by July 1. Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service Inc., which is based out of Warrenton, Va., will expand its Midwest operations to include its first permanent Iowa location in the Regency One building at Westown Parkway and 50th Street.
The new office will work with federal contracts, calculating, analyzing and providing summarized Medicare data for health researchers all over the nation, said Mike Rozendaal, vice president of the West Des Moines SDI division.
Buccaneer chose West Des Moines as an ideal location for its new division based on the expertise that is readily available in the area. "There are a lot of people in West Des Moines that can do this type of work," Rozendaal said.
Last week the Iowa Economic Development Board approved a $120,000 Community Betterment Account award and tax benefits to the company, which plans to create 40 new jobs.
Many people who will start at the company have worked for Buccaneer out of their homes. The new office space will allow people to collaboratively work together under one roof, as well as provide jobs for local residents. "We're trying to be in and a part of the community;' Rozendaal said. “We want to generate good jobs in Iowa."
