Physician’s Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) Goes Live
On July 14th, 2007, the new Physician’s Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) application went live. PQRI is a major new Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiative to measure and incentivize physician quality care and is part of the government “pay for performance” strategy. Buccaneer provided all IT infrastructure, independent testing, and security services on the project.
The aggressive PQRI program timeline required both a dedicated team and a creative technical approach. Buccaneer was instrumental in developing solutions to integrate the PQRI application within CMS enterprise authentication system across the wide-area network. This was amongst several technical “firsts” within the CMS enterprise architecture for PQRI.
The technical infrastructure supporting the PQRI program has been designed to accommodate several hundred thousand users. The project has become a model a model for the rapid development and rollout a complex, highly integrated program.
