Buccaneer Team Wins FDA Contract
WARRENTON, VA, September 25, 2008 – Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Inc. (Buccaneer) was one of ten companies awarded the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Information and Computing Technologies for the 21st Century (ICT21) infrastructure contract vehicle. This contract totals up to $2.5 billion over ten years and is the cornerstone of the FDA’s bioinformatics initiative, an extensive information technology (IT) modernization program encompassing data management, data warehousing, IT infrastructure, and IT security. Under the contract, Buccaneer was also awarded a task order valued at up to $34 million over five years for the operations and maintenance of the FDA’s new White Oak Data Center in Silver Spring, MD.
Partnered with Buccaneer are Hewlett Packard of Palo Alto, California; Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) of San Diego, California; NCI Information Systems of Reston, Virginia; Management Systems Services, Inc. (MSS Inc.) of Rockville, Maryland; Emergint of Rockville, Maryland; Exeter Government Services of Rockville, Maryland; and Brown IT Corporation of Baltimore, Maryland.
