Buccaneer Wins MAPD Testing ESD Task Order with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
WARRENTON, VA, April 1, 2009 – Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Inc. (Buccaneer) has been awarded a $4.75 million dollar Medicare Advantage and Part D (MAPD) testing task order under the Enterprise Systems Development (ESD) contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). If CMS elects to award all of the optional subsystems that are part of this task order award the total value of the contract could exceed $47 million dollars for the 5 year period of performance. Buccaneer will serve as the independent validation and verification contractor to ensure that accurate functionality in these CMS mission critical systems are maintained.
The MAPD suite of subsystems provides the foundation of information and functionality for the Medicare Part C and Part D programs under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act as well as supporting other Medicare health plan options such as Cost Plans, Health Care Prepayment Plans (HCPP), the Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and a variety of CMS Demonstrations. The MAPD system is s suite of nine subsystems that support basic business functions including entitlement, eligibility, enrollment, premium, premium withholding, payment drug utilization, risk utilization and reconciliation. Additional functionality will be added as future needs are identified or as legislation requires.
