CMS HCQIS Phase 2 Infrastructure Support Contract Expanded

Less than six months into the first contract year, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has significantly expanded the scope of Buccaneer’s Health Care Quality Improvement System (HCQIS) Phase 2 IT Infrastructure Support contract.  The contract expansion adds almost $27M to the contract, bringing the total contract dollar value to $153M over 5 years.  
The contract expansion adds additional tasks in the areas of IT procurement, independent software validation testing, identity management, and security services.   Notably, Buccaneer will work with the CMS Office of Information Services (OIS) to implement the Agency-wide Security Content Application Protocol (SCAP) system.  The SCAP system will provide security vulnerability identification and compliance monitoring across  all 167 FISMA systems within the CMS enterprise.   Under the new work Buccaneer will also assume responsibility administering and the HCQIS enterprise identity management (IDM) system.  The new IDM system will be expanded over the course of the year to provide identity management services for up to 100,000 users across the US.
