Buccaneer West Des Moines Office Bowls for Kids’ Sake
The Buccaneer West Des Moines office participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake for the second year in a row. This year the West Des Moines office tripled its participants and nearly tripled the amount of money donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa. On March 11th twenty-nine staff and family members raised $4,310 to help match vulnerable kids in our community with caring adult mentors.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a national fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters. A series of bowling parties were held at local bowling centers to celebrate fundraising efforts. Each bowling team is made up of four to six individuals who have individually raised at least $100 for the event. The fundraisers enjoy two free bowling games, free bowling shoe rental and a Bowl for Kids’ Sake t-shirt.
Currently in central Iowa, more than 200 children are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Sister. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters, national research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their ‘Big’ mentors have a direct and measurable impact on children's lives. Buccaneer’s West Des Moines office was once again proud to be a corporate sponsor of Bowl for Kids’ Sake and support children in central Iowa.
