Buccaneer Wins Center of Excellence Contract as Subcontractor in Collaboration with Mathematica Policy Research
WARRENTON, VA, June, 2010 - Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Inc. (Buccaneer) has been awarded American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds to establish a Center of Excellence in Research on Disability Services, Care Coordination and Integration. Buccaneer will subcontract to Mathematica to support the $6 million contract for development of a foundation and infrastructure necessary to conduct comparative effectiveness research on systems of care for people with disabilities. Creation of this Center of Excellence in Research on Disability Services and Care Coordination and Integration will assist the Office on Disability and other components of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with examining the effectiveness of different services, educational supports, and models of care for people with disabilities.
Buccaneer’s Software, Development and Informatics (SDI) division supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW). BCSSI will assist Mathematica in this project to link existing CCW Medicaid data sources and other datasets relevant to the disabled population. The role of Buccaneer in this project aims to:
• Assist with the identification of relevant data sources, evaluate the usability of these data, and develop useful data products for stakeholders of a variety of levels, including providers, health care decision makers, consumers, and their family members, and policy makers seeking to improve care for people with disabilities including those with chronic conditions
• Provide infrastructure support for the exploration and development of such data products
The award of this contract, under the direction of the Office on Disability, will add technical, analytic, and program management staff to the West Des Moines, Iowa and Warrenton, Virginia offices at Buccaneer.
